There are so many amazing restaurants in the Napa Valley and surrounding areas. You can hardly go wrong. Here are a few of our favorites from our last trip to Napa. First off, we changed it up on this trip and made Calistoga our base, which we’d never done before. Downtown Calistoga is charming and set against a beautiful backdrop of hills. It’s very walkable and is sprinkled with restaurants and shops.
The newly renovated Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs was our home for the trip. It was quirky, fun, and retro. The area’s famed mineral springs are the focus of the property, set against a fancy version of a 70’s motel. It was like nowhere else we’d stayed – and we’d do it again. The restaurant on property was fantastic and boasted a great wine menu in their outdoor bar. The flatbread pizza was terrific.
Two of our favorite spots of our trip:
Turnbull, always. It’s our #1.
Jericho Canyon Vineyard. We took the golf cart tour and had the most wonderful tasting with a view that rivals a lot of others.
where we dined.
Breakfast:
Cafe Sarafornia – A fantastic locals spot that fills up fast. Delicious and fresh sit-down brunch and breakfast spot. We ate here several times.
Calistoga Roastery – A great grab-and-go option if you’re heading out of Calistoga for morning wine tastings. Wonderful coffee and croissants.
Bouchon Bakery – Thomas Keller’s bakery in Yountville. The creme de la creme. Walk away with a new favorite. Everything is good here. Grab-and-go with some seating outside. Line begins forming early, but moves quickly.
Lunch:
Oakville Grocery – Our go-to. Fast, delicious, and centrally located on the main drag. If the pizza oven is firing, stop. It’s worth it – even if you’re running late.
Dinner:
House of Better – Housed inside Dr. Wilkinson’s, House of Better has the best pies, pizzas, and a can’t-miss salsa trio.
Farmstead – So good. Fresh, local, farm-to-table. You can’t misorder here. Also a terrific kids menu (locally farmed cheese in their mac and cheese)
Ad Hoc – Another Thomas Keller – spinoff from the French Laundry family. Expect a set menu that changes frequently, but fried chicken is almost always on it.
