March ushered in a new season, and with it, a new reading list! I’m trying to keep up with my 2018 goals (you can see my winter reading list here) and read more this year. Here are the books that I’m tackling this spring:
Beautiful | The title of this book describes it perfectly. I love thumbing through Sikes’ amazing interiors and learning about the thought behind every textile, color, and accent piece chosen for each room. I can’t wait to get into this one. Did I mention it’s chock full of the classics, including blue and white?
Emily Post’s Etiquette | I took this idea from Carly, who recently re-read this timeless etiquette guide. It’s always a good one to have on-hand and it’s been ages since I’ve picked it up and read it through. I love how they’ve carried on Emily Post’s legacy with Awesome Etiquette, a weekly podcast hosted by Lizzie Post and Daniel Post Senning. It’s worth a listen!
The Describer’s Dictionary | As a writer, I am so excited to flip through this book. It’s a collection of literary terms, descriptors, quotations, and so much more – and it’s going right next to my desk.
Harry’s Bar | The originator of classic favorites like the bellini and carpaccio, Harry’s Bar in Venice is world-renowned. It was also a favorite of Ernest Hemingway. I’ve been desperate to get back to Italy after our fabulous stay in northern Tuscany two summers ago. This book is putting Venice at #1 – just perhaps not in the summer.
Bunny Mellon | This book is tops on my list right now. I’m 1 1/2 chapters in and I’m hooked. I love a good biography and this one is so well-written that you hang onto every word. Bunny’s life is fascinating and so inspiring. I can’t recommend this read enough so far.
Personal History | The story of Katharine Graham – the woman who led The Washington Post – through Watergate – is one I’ve been coming back to for months. It’s been a mainstay on my Kindle airplane reading list for so long that I finally decided to pick up a hard copy and commit to reading the whole thing. I’m halfway through and can tell you that Graham’s life was far from an easy one. This is a book that’s worth the hefty read.
Happy reading!
