Bringing the warmth of fall to the table with gold, brass, and burgundy
Is there anything more cozy than warm candlelight playing off of crystal and glass? I just love it. So, for this year’s Friendsgiving we hosted, we opted for all things fall and comfort in an elegant, effortless sort of way.
Our gold-rimmed china and crystal definitely elevated the spread. My standby beaded gold chargers, along with a few assorted brass candlesticks, pulled out the gold rimming so that the entire table glistened.
I found these too-cute turkey salt and pepper shakers last year (along with these artichokes in an earlier post) and had to have them. They’re sadly not available, but here are some similar seasonal gourd shakers and acorns.
We used our ivory Sferra napkins to soften the look. Crisp white certainly has its place. I wanted this tabletop to feel golden and warm and the ivory textiles really brought this feel home. You can find similar Sferra napkins here and here. They’re great basics to stock up on.
I adore antique hydrangea. The rose petal reds, cream, and green of the flower and its leaves lends such an elegance to any tabletop. Clear glass vases can be so tricky when you’re working with them at eye-level. I trimmed the leaves from the hydrangea and lined the clear vases with them, then added the water and the hydrangea. The resulting arrangements were beautiful – and it was so simple!
I tried something new with the rest of the flowers. I decided to break up the flowers instead of adding them to the hydrangea in two big centerpiece arrangements. The hydrangea were so stunning by themselves that I let them stand on their own. I separated out the rest of the flowers in bunches of about three blooms and scattered them around the tables in clear vases of different shapes. The look was fun, and a bit more organic.

Finally, we added tapered candles for that beautiful glow. I stock up on taper candles throughout the year in white and ivory from places like Michael’s, Amazon, Home Goods, you name it. We go through so many of these and the tealights and votives. They’re great to always have on-hand – just make sure they’re unscented.
