Our Colorful and Bright Tablescape for a Fabulous Summer Picnic
Guys, this might have been our best polo picnic yet. From antiques and hunt decor to the fabulous dishes our friends brought, it was picture-perfect. Here’s how we set our equestrian tabletop…
We laid down the foundation with two of my beloved tablecloths by Pomegranate, Inc. I started with my rectangular Equestrian Sketch on the bottom, then layered Racing Silks on top. It provided a colorful backdrop for all of our different platters – from Annieglass to Juliska’s Country Estate.
For beverages, Jen and Colin served up classic Aperol spritzes to beat the summer heat. We popped bottles of prosecco, champagne, rose, and sparkling water to keep the temperatures down.
We served our items on these clear glitter scalloped plates from Target. They were so much fun and paired perfectly with these gold utensils. Disposable is definitely the way to go when it comes to hosting a picnic that isn’t in your backyard.
Our bites covered almost any craving you could ever have, and I could easily eat everything from this tabletop every single day and be perfectly content. Here are a few of the highlights:
- prosciutto-wrapped melon
- pimento cheese bites (rolled in crushed pecans)
- deconstructed burgers on skewers
- Greek caprese bites
- Allie’s veggies and dip (in hollowed-out peppers)
- sweet potato sausage bites
- BBQ chicken sliders on sweet rolls
- rhubarb and berry pies scooped in Middleburg from Rebecca
- Gorgonzola-stuffed dates
- berries and goat cheese on toasted baguette slices
- pimento cheese dip
- orzo pasta salad
- quinoa salad
It’s safe to say that we did not go hungry!
Caspari sent these fantastic cocktail napkins and luncheon napkins for us to use in our spread. Could they be any more perfect?
Our sweet friend, Rebecca, brought some of her antique equestrian prints and several pieces in her hunt collection. Her stirrup cup was one of my favorite pieces. The cup was (and still is!) traditionally presented to riders while they are in their stirrups prior to leaving for the hunt or arriving back after. You can see it below to the right of the flower arrangement.
My mother found me the chicest ceramic fox who stood guard over our bar. Isn’t he handsome?!
Sunflowers and hydrangeas in white and bright blue crowned the top of Rebecca’s chic silver vase. Coupled with our platters in silver, white, gold, and blue and white, our scene was set.
Huge thanks to these gorgeous friends (and their mates) who helped pull this fabulous spread together!
