College football is here, friends! We all know what that means…pumpkin spice everything, sweaters, and chilly evenings are just on the horizon. I can feel it. Chex mix is something that always goes hand-in-hand for me when fall comes around. My mother-in-law makes the best batches and she’ll have them around the main areas of her home for anyone who has a craving. It’s both wonderful and dangerous.
In honor of the kickoff of an almost new season, here’s one of my favorite recipes for the easiest crowdpleaser out there: Chex mix.

First, here’s what you’ll need:
3 cups of Corn Chex
3 cups of Wheat Chex
3 cups of Rice Chex
1 cup of pretzels (sticks or twists – dealer’s choice, y’all)
1 cup of Goldfish or Annie’s bunnies (yours truly opted for cheese penguins)
2 cups of mixed nuts (peanuts, pecan halves, or almonds)
Anything else you’d like (bagel chips, corn chips, sesame crunches, etc.)
For the sauce:
3/4 cup of melted butter
4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 tbsp salt (you can use seasoning salt here, which is what we did, or garlic salt for extra an garlic flavor)

Now, to pull it all together…
Preheat the oven to 250 F.
Mix together all of your “snack” items into a bowl OR spread it out on a baking sheet. This will likely take more than one baking sheet.
Melt the butter and mix in your seasonings with a whisk or fork. Taste it to make sure you’re pleased with the seasoning.
Pour the mixture over your mixed snack items. You may need to make a bit more of the mixture, especially if you’re a fan of those well-seasoned bites. Again, hi! I see you on that. This recipe is more of an art than a science.

Bake for 45 minutes to an hour, checking every 10-15 minutes or so.
Once finished, remove your Chex mix from the baking sheet and onto parchment paper or wax paper to cool. Enjoy!
