The Perfect Addition to Your Galentine’s Brunch
This recipe is guaranteed to please – and bring out the kid in all of us. The red sprinkle rim adds a little Valentine’s spirit to the berry-packed smoothie. Pair this smoothie with these strawberry chia muffins for a healthy and hearty breakfast or brunch for your significant other, little ones, or gal-entines!
For my Valentine’s Day tabletop, I tried out something new. I love the idea of dressing your table with non-traditional holiday colors, so decorated ours with pops of blue and purple on a bold flowery background.
I used one of my favorite Kate Spade tablecloths, available here. The bright floral print really pops once it’s on the table. I paired it with my cabbageware to dress up our “game” night a few months back. Blue rattan chargers added texture to the table (similar ones here and here), and these vibrant purple napkins were the perfect accent to pull everything together.
This recipe makes about two smoothies.
What you’ll need:
1/4 c blueberries
1/3 c Green non-fat yogurt, plain or vanilla (I used vanilla)
1 tsp chia seeds
3/4 c washed, halved strawberries
1 banana
Honey (optional; to taste)
Milk (optional; to thin)
For the rim:
Red sprinkles
Half of a lemon
Blend your ingredients together until smooth, adding milk to thin it out as needed. If you’re craving a little extra sweet, add in a small squeeze of honey.
Next, create your rim. Rim your glass generously with the lemon half first. The lemon juice will help the sprinkles stick.
Pour the sprinkles into a bowl. Tilt the lemon-rimmed glass upside down into the sprinkles until the rim is coated. Wipe off any excess and top with a paper straw like these. I eyeballed each paper straw against the glass and snipped off a few inches at an angle to fit the glass.
Serve immediately, and enjoy!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
