A Green Smoothie You’ll Actually Enjoy
In the spirit of all things green the week of St. Patrick’s Day, I’m sharing with you all a green smoothie that’s anything but bland health food. I should start by saying that I am not a fan of green smoothies or juices. They all tend to be just too…grassy for me. I’d much prefer to eat my salad than drink it in liquid form.
Needless to say, I was skeptical when Food Network’s The Kitchen featured this recipe. Then, I tried it. I’m suggesting they rename to it the “friendly” kale smoothie because it’s just that. This non-green-juice-drinker can’t get enough of it!
It’s still packed with kale and all the good stuff, but includes a freshly-squeezed orange, a handful of grapes, and half of a pear. This cuts through the earthy/bitter flavor and makes it taste a bit more like a fruit smoothie. I served it at our Detox Party along with this detoxifying lemon ginger tea and it was a hit. I hope you like it as much as we did!

Here’s what you’ll need:
2 cups kale, washed and dried
1 c grapes
1 orange, juiced
1/2 pear, cored
1/2 banana, sliced
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cut with water if you need to. Enjoy! If you liked this recipe, try this detoxifying lemon ginger turmeric tea from the same Detox Party!
