Decking the Halls and Trimming our Tree
I love decorating for the holidays. There’s nothing quite like fresh evergreen and glowing lights to make a home feel instantly cozy and warm.
We’ve been half-decorated for several weeks now since we had our Christmas card photos taken early. That turned out to be fabulous motivation to get our home decorated in the beginning – and now we get to enjoy it for the rest of the season!
Our sideboard is probably one of my favorite pieces in our home and it was one of the first to have a few holiday pieces added. I mixed in a few pieces from Gray Antiques that I just love on one of our beautiful silver trays.
I’m also loving these Herend monogram coasters and this fabulous palm napkin holder we recently purchased. Can y’all tell I’m partial to decorating with golds for the holidays? Just don’t judge our boring dinner napkins – those will be replaced pre-Christmas Eve with some fabulous pink and green pagodas I found at my last trip to Caspari. Thanks to Stephen for lending me a lens!
A few silver touches did make it into this year’s decorations, like this silver reindeer (similar here) on our shelves.
We brought in more of the warm gold tones with these tassels from The Second Yard in Charlottesville (similar here) and loads of vintage brass candlesticks. I always pick up brass candlesticks wherever I can because they’re so versatile and effortlessly elevate a space.
Switching out throw pillows on your sofa and occasional chairs is an easy way to update your space for a new season. I picked up this amazing Yves Delorme leopard pillow over Thanksgiving and a too-fun Santa’s sleigh pillow last year (similar here). The pair of plaid, velvet-trimmed pillows are Ralph Lauren Home that I found at Home Goods also last year (this one is cute, too).
We incorporated gold ornaments from our travels (more on this and our other holiday traditions in this post), blue and white ornaments, and these red and white ginger jar ornaments (on sale now!) on our tree (more on my holiday hosting wishlist).
Thick, gold-wired ribbon and gold holly picks added the perfect glimmer to our white light tree.
And, of course, we had to have a train set underneath the tree.
Happy decorating, y’all!
