My mom always has the most beautiful, elaborate arrangements and I’ve always been so nervous to try them out because of their height and size. They looked so intimidating! Despite that, I thought, this year is the year!
And, surprisingly, it wasn’t difficult at all. I used these elements in these two arrangements: dried eucalyptus leaves in different colors, bunches of pheasant feathers, whispery dried leaves, and a few of these cotton fillers.
For the container, the key is to find taller ginger jars. I stuck with blue and white because it’s such a good base that goes with just about everything. I love this brushstroke jar, this fabulous one by Dana Gibson Designs, and this one that’s perfect for the fall.
I broke apart the bouquets and organized each by color, then pulled the cotton fillers apart a bit.
From there, the rest was simple. I made sure the tall, fuller pieces were arranged in the back and that the colors were broken up and blended in well. Finally, I stuck the cotton picks into the gaps as fillers. That’s it!
The most time-consuming part of the whole thing was selecting the pieces I was going to use. There are tons at your local craft stores and grocery stores. You just have to weed through the plastic ones to find the true dried plants. They’re a bit more, but the look is worth it.
Happy arranging!
