Celebrating the Fourth with a Classic Summertime Palette
(Wearing Lisi Lerch earrings, Kate Spade top – similar here, Club Monaco scalloped shorts – striped and in black)
It’s almost that time! I’m especially excited for the Fourth of July this year since we’ve decided to do something a little different: a low country boil. I’ve got a tabletop with a little blue and white and some coastal vibes to help celebrate!
I used a blue and white tablecloth as my base (see more about this neutral palette here). The tablecloth is old, but I’m currently coveting some of India Amory’s beautiful block printed ones like this one here. You can also opt for a truly Fourth of July navy check gingham like this one, just be careful if you’re incorporating ginger jars instead of flowers into your table as you don’t want the print on the bottom to overpower the rest of your table. I’d stay on the more subtle side if you’re planning a busy tablescape, like yours truly. I can’t help it.
To add a little texture, I chose woven blue chargers – similar to these or these, then added my standby white Williams Sonoma dishes (dinner plate here and salad plate here). I stacked a few of my Blue Willow Imperial cereal bowls on top to tie in the blue (available here at a great price) and brought in red with linen napkins (similar here) and cocktail napkins (old; a fun alternative by Caspari here). These patriotic straws were a terrific Target find. I haven’t been able to locate them online, but these silver ones are a great alternative if your store is out of the stars and stripes. Blue and white loves silver.
Instead of flowers as the centerpiece, I chose a few of my smaller ginger jars and orbs. You can find some great ones that are new at Williams Sonoma, Ballard Designs, and even HomeGoods. I found the orbs at HomeGoods, but here are some similar ones on Houzz. The glasses are a favorite find from our trip to Black Dog Salvage. Have fun with your tabletop, and be sure to share your ideas in the comments! Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
Beautiful and looking forward to the low country boil or frogmore stew, as it was formerly known.
Thanks! Cannot wait 🙂
