If you follow me on Instagram, it’s no surprise to you that I love anything and everything pumpkin spice in the fall. Since we’re almost halfway into September, I thought it was about time for a pumpkin-themed tabletop.
I used an old Ralph Lauren Home tablecloth in burgundy with tan/brown accents as the base, which fit in nicely with these pumpkin-shaped soup bowls I bought last year – can’t you just imagine a hearty butternut squash soup in them? I was so upset I could only find four of them. I began my Juliska Country Estate collection last year though, so don’t feel too bad for me.
I pulled our basic white dinner and salad plates and I have to say – even though it works here since the colors in the pumpkin bowls are more of a tan/olive – that this is why it matters so much to pick a good basic white dinner set.
Matching whites when you’re mixing in dinner ware isn’t always a guaranteed home run. If you opt for a less expensive set, be careful as the white can have a slight blue tint. As you’re picking out your set, make sure you’re picking a white that’s going to go with the whites you normally use. Some prefer white dishes with a slight ivory tone. For me, it was a crisp white. And don’t be afraid to bring a dish to your local boutique or shop if you’re considering mixing in another dinner ware set and you aren’t sure if it will match your existing white set. I do it all the time.
I used burgundy-edged cream napkins to help tie in the tan/olive pumpkin bowls so each setting was cohesive. The chargers are fun Target finds that I brought home last year. In keeping with the fall palette, I used these gold Caspari Scalamandre cocktail napkins (one of my favorites – also in red).
Since I pulled in one of my fall arrangements in a blue and white ginger jar, I rested a few orange fall candles in Blue Willow bowls.
I’ve said it before, but I just love having candles lit during our dinner parties and whenever we’re at home, especially in cooler weather. There’s something so cozy about candlelight. Hope this gives you plenty of inspiration for your table!
Cheers!
