A Festive Winter Punch with Cranberry, Orange, and Bubbles

I love a good punch. It’s fabulous for entertaining and is always a crowd-pleaser. Punches have gone in and out and I’m so glad to see they’re back…and I think they’re here to stay. We served this fizzy beverage at our holiday party (post here) and will definitely pull it out again and again this winter.

These gorgeous vintage glasses came from our dear friend Nancy, who got them at The Hour in Old Town. I also love these gold-rimmed rocks glasses with bird detailing. They’re just stunning. These gold glasses are also so much fun, or you can go with these glasses with a simple gold rim. The Lenox Firelight glasses have such an interesting cut, and I am loving the gold faceted bottom of these glasses, too.

Ingredients:

Here is what you’ll need to make this sparkling beverage. You can stop here if you’d like to give your guests the option of adding alcohol instead of mixing it directly into the punch.

8 cups of cranberry juice (real cranberry juice, not the cranberry cocktail juice)

1 liter of ginger ale

2 cups of fresh cranberries

2 oranges, sliced

To this, you can add:

1 oz spiced rum

1 oz Prosecco, or your favorite kind of bubbles (champagne, etc.)

Adding in spiced rum gives it that extra depth. We actually mini-mooned in the Virgin Islands and used one of our bottles of Cruzan rum that we brought back from the distillery in our holiday punch!

A few things you can do to spruce up this festive beverage even more:

  • Freeze your fresh cranberries in advance. This will help keep your punch chilled without diluting it.
  • Freeze cranberry juice in ice cube molds. This will also help keep it chilled and will add a bit more color.

I love collecting punch bowls and just found a new favorite silver set purchased from Evergreen Antiques in Annapolis, Maryland. You can’t go wrong with a good glass bowl either, like this frosted glass set. I also love how elegant this footed bowl looks – on sale now, too. Here is another glass one by Scott Zweisel.

Cheers, y’all, and happy entertaining!
